I am currently open for commission work.
I can work with abstract ideas, build work from sketches or scribbled ideas, or create works of someone special in your life, human or animal.
If I will be painting a real life subject, I will work from a high quality photo (or photos, if you can't decide which would look best I can choose from several). The reason for the high quality references is simply my eyesight. Much of the time I struggle with focus, or with being able to see all the details clearly, and a good reference will allow me to zoom in to see everything I need.
Basic commissions generally include a simple coloured background that complements the subject. You can request a specific colour, or I can choose for you.
I can do more complicated backgrounds, but these will take more time and add to cost.
Once completed, you will receive your piece in several different file formats that will be printer friendly at most places. From there you are free to get the image printed as a canvas, a poster, to put it on a mug or a mouse pad, or just add it to a digital album frame. The files will be large enough to print out a canvas of around 5 feet on the longest side.
The cost is dependent upon number of subjects and their complexity, the type of background, how detailed the work will be.
For example, most of the pet portraits on this site are a single animal on a coloured background, and that would run in the ballpark of $90-100. Complexity of the hair or fur might change the price slightly. Additional pets can be added for approximately $25, again depending on the detail composition.
Turn around time varies, as I do have a vision problem with which I battle daily. If I have no other work in the pipeline, it may be just a few days. If there is a queue, of course that would affect the time frame. I will provide an estimate at the beginning, and any unavoidable delays will be communicated.
Please note that the specifics of detail from references will vary. The more detail I can see, the more I can provide, so high resolution pictures are best!
